Les Gets

Located between Geneva Lake and Mont-Blanc, in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, the pretty resort of Les Gets (1,172 to 2,002 metres) is a typically Savoyard town  - just 60 minutes from Geneva airport. Les Gets proudly maintains a mountain-village soul with traditional stone-and-wood chalets, whilst offering a great selection of bars, restaurants and shops.

Chalet La Penote sits on the sunny slopes of Mont Chery, overlooking Les Gets. The town centre is just a 10-15 minute stroll down the hill, with the pistes just a 2 minute walk away. Mont-Chery offers fabulous skiing, boarder cross and a choice of restaurants - or jump on the ski bus which stops outside the chalet during French holidays. The local skiing at Les Gets/Morzine is extensive, with good nursery, beginner and intermediate slopes. For the more adventurous, you can ski to the far end of the Portes du Soleil (with its 650km of pistes and 212 ski lifts) taking you into Switzerland. A visit to "The Wall" in Avoriaz is also worth it - not for the faint hearted! Snowboarders are well provided for. There also many other ski areas within easy reach by car, including Samoen & Flaine.

Chalet La Penote is the ideal base for a mountain or road biking break, situated close to a number of famous Tour de France Alpine finishes including Avoriaz and the Col de Joux Plane. Les Gets and Mont Chery provides plenty of options for both downhill and cross country mountain bikers.

There is an 18 hole golf course just 5 minutes drive away and a 9 hole in Avoriaz (20 minutes away). Other activities include para-gliding, tennis, white water rafting, horse riding, canoing, high ropes and swimming.
